1. Our Suppliers

Before anyone can manufacture Watsons Own Brand products, they must have Good Manufacturing Practices in place, assessed by external auditing agencies and/or our own Quality Assurance teams.

a) We conduct business responsibly

b) Improving working conditions in our supply chain:

The AS Watson Group has been a member of amfori’s Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) since 2008. This initiative aims to improve working conditions in the global supply chain.

All our suppliers must first agree to amfori’s code of conduct and then accept regular compliance audits carried out by appointed external agencies.

We help reduce factory audit fatigue and speak out on “zero tolerance” issues.

We monitor our suppliers’ performances and provide e-learning tools and workshops for improvement.

c) We are dedicated to fighting Modern Slavery

d) Good Manufacturing Practices

We use only qualified manufacturers

All our manufacturing practices are approved through our Development, Quality Assurance and Regulatory teams.

We regularly visit Own Brand manufacturers to review all production processes and records related to raw materials and finished product controls.

We ensure safety and quality through chemical and/or microbiological tests performed by external independent laboratories and our own internal ISO17025 accredited laboratory.

2. New product Research and Development

We constantly evaluate beauty trends and sources. We develop winning products based on extensive research and customer feedback

All our products go through an independent agency specialising in consumer product testing. We substantiate all specific product claims. For example, we check the term “Dermatologically tested” with independent laboratory tests at institutes in Asia and/or Europe.

We make our assessments through accredited EUROTOX toxicologists. Our stringent independent assessments cover raw materials, together with the formulation and the interaction of the formulation with the packaging

We have established our own restricted substance list and we have moved ahead of legislation to restrict their presence in our formulations and banned them from all our product development

We constantly update our banned substance list based on recommendations from the accredited toxicologist and the European Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety

All our work adheres to the very latest, most up to date standards. We adopt a highly scientific approach, to ensure the safety of all ‘Own Brand’ products

3. Delivery Inspections

Before we sell any of our Own Brand products, we conduct additional Quality Assurance controls including:

Inspections at manufacturers' premises by independent, and highly competent external agencies

Inspections upon product delivery by trained internal staff

4. On-going Post-Market Surveillance

We continually reassess our Own Brand products in markets.

Randomly testing sampled products to ensure they meet expected Quality and Safety standards.

Adopting best practices and the strictest legislation from both East and West to ensure the highest standards of compliance and quality assurance of all our Own Brand products.
